A 38-year-old journalist originally from Russia was found dead in the Paris suburb of Meudon.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Le Figaro, the publication does not reveal the name and surname of the deceased. The man's body was discovered on January 6 on the pavement near the apartment building where he lived. In his apartment, police found medication packages in the trash can.

According to a Le Parisien source, the deceased was a freelance Russian journalist who, according to the publication's interlocutors, "may have been threatened with murder." However, the main version of what happened at the moment is considered to be suicide. The prosecutor's office has begun an investigation into the circumstances of the death.

Journalist Denis Balashov reported in his Telegram channel that the person in question is 38-year-old Evgeny Safronov. According to him, until 2024 the deceased worked for a publication recognized in Russia as a foreign agent, but was subsequently fired from there.
