Thailand to deport blogger Zbarsky who filmed fights in Cambodia to Russia
Thailand's Immigration Police will deport blogger Timur Zbarsky to Russia on Friday, August 15. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
The Russian was detained in the resort city of Pattaya after he filmed military operations during a border conflict with Cambodia. Subsequently, the man's long-term Thai visa was canceled. The reason for this decision was cited as actions that could potentially pose a threat to Thailand's national security.
Zbarsky was not charged with any criminal or administrative offenses. After detention, he was sent to Bangkok to the Immigration Police Detention Center. From there, the blogger will be taken to Suvarnabhumi International Airport for departure to Russia.
According to the agency, the Russian citizen may be added to a "blacklist" with a five-year ban on visiting Thailand. The man had been living in the country for more than 10 years. He is a co-owner of a small tourism business, according to the report.
