Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath informed parliament that the country's naval forces had been notified that the IRIS Dena, with 180 people on board, was in distress. The state dispatched ships and aircraft to conduct rescue operations.

Earlier, an Israeli F-35I "Adir" fighter jet shot down a Yak-130 fighter belonging to the Iranian Air Force over Tehran. According to the IDF, this is the first case in history of a manned fighter jet being shot down by an F-35I aircraft.
