Star of the film "Mad Max" has died
Swedish athlete and star of the film "Mad Max" Kjell Nilsson has passed away at the age of 76.
This was reported by the Daily Star.
According to the actor's representative, Nilsson had been battling kidney disease for four years. He passed away surrounded by family in the Australian state of Queensland.
The actor became famous after appearing in the American film "Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior" (1981) in the role of the fearsome Lord Humungus — the leader of a band of marauders.
Kjell Nilsson was born in Gothenburg, Sweden. In 1980, he moved to Australia to train Swedish athletes ahead of the Olympic Games in Moscow. There, Nilsson met actress Kate Ferguson, whom he later married in Sweden. Kate convinced the actor to return to Australia and pursue an acting career.
Nilsson appeared in several films: "Pirates" (1982), "A Man of Words" (1984), "On the Edge of Power" (1987), however, it was Lord Humungus that brought him fame — thanks to Nilsson, his character is considered one of the most memorable antagonists of the franchise.
