Record Military Budget Bill Approved in U.S. Congress

The U.S. House of Representatives approved a bill providing $1.15 trillion for American military needs in 2027.

216 members of the House of Representatives voted in favor of the document, while 212 lawmakers voted against it. The bill will now be sent to the U.S. Senate for consideration, and if approved by the upper chamber of the legislature, it will be forwarded to U.S. President Donald Trump for signature. However, as Politico notes, Republicans, who currently control both chambers of Congress, will face difficulties when the bill is considered in the Senate, where its approval requires the support of at least 60 lawmakers. Earlier in July, the upper chamber of the legislature rejected a similar document drafted in the Senate.

In addition, the House of Representatives approved a legislative initiative providing for the allocation of $95 billion in funds. Of that amount, $73 billion is proposed to be allocated for financing a military operation against Iran. This document will also be sent to the upper chamber of Congress for consideration.
