I hope that the understandings reached with the US will open the road to peace in Ukraine.

As TASS reports, Putin stated this at a joint press conference.

"Russia has considered and still considers the Ukrainian people as brotherly, and what is happening - a tragedy and severe pain.

I am confident that there would have been no war in Ukraine if Trump had been the US president. I expect that the sooner we can reach the end of the conflict in Ukraine, the better," noted the Russian leader.

According to him, Russia is ready to work on Ukraine's security: "Moscow is sincerely interested in putting an end to the crisis around Ukraine".
