Princess Diana's dress sold at auction for 520 thousand dollars

The largest collection of Princess Diana's belongings is on auction in Los Angeles (USA).

As BAKU.WS reports with reference to TASS, a silk dress with a floral pattern that belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales, was sold on Thursday during the auction for $520,000.

This outfit of the princess is known as the "caring dress," because she often wore it when visiting hospitals. The starting price of the lot was $50,000.

In total, more than 300 items related to Diana and other members of the British royal family were put up for auction. Among them was a Dior bag gifted to the princess by former First Lady of France Bernadette Chirac (sold for $325,000 with a starting price of $5,000), a peach-colored hat that Diana wore during her honeymoon (hammered down for $26,000 with a starting price of $5,000), her dresses, shoes, clutches, cards signed by her, and photographs.

According to the auction organizers, the collection put up for sale was intended to allow auction participants to see "the intimate side of royal life, to understand who these people were and what they cherished."
