U.S. law enforcement agencies reported the detention of five people suspected of involvement in the overdose death of actor Robert De Niro's grandson - Leonardo.

As BAKU.WS reports, this information was provided by ABC News. The arrests were made as part of an investigation into a major drug trafficking case.

According to investigators, those detained were part of a criminal group involved in distributing counterfeit prescription drugs. These contained the powerful synthetic opioid fentanyl, which poses a serious threat to life.

The court established that the drugs distributed by this network caused the deaths of three young people, including 19-year-old Leonardo De Niro and Akira Stein - daughter of Blondie co-founder Chris Stein.

It is noted that the tragedy with Leonardo De Niro occurred in July last year. During the same period, Chris Stein reported the death of his daughter from an overdose.

Earlier it became known that the criminal investigation against theater and film actress Aglaya Tarasova has been completed. In August 2025, she was detained at Domodedovo Airport with prohibited substances - the artist was found with 0.4 grams of cannabis oil.
