Patient dies for the first time in India from virus for which there is no vaccine
First fatal case of Nipah virus infection recorded in India.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the Telegram channel Mash, there is currently no vaccine for the disease, and the transmission routes of the virus are largely similar to the coronavirus infection. According to the World Health Organization, mortality from Nipah infection can reach 40-75%, depending on the quality of medical care and the effectiveness of epidemiological control in the region.
The virus is transmitted to humans from bats (winged) and pigs, as well as through contaminated food and direct contact with infected individuals. No specific treatment has been developed to date.
