Olympic champion Jutta Leerdam conquers social media with her beauty
Dutch speed skater Jutta Leerdam has written her name in history by winning her first Olympic gold medal in her career. At the 1000-meter distance, the 27-year-old athlete clocked a time of 1:12.31, setting a new Olympic record, and couldn't hold back her emotions after crossing the finish line.
As reported by BAKU.WS citing foreign publications, attention toward Leerdam at the 2026 Milan Olympics was drawn not only by her outstanding result but also by the athlete's journey to the Games. The speed skater flew to Italy on a private jet, separately from the Dutch national team.
During the flight, Jutta held a small party on board. The menu for her and her friends included craft cupcakes with Olympic rings and the inscription "Good luck, Jutta!", tuna salads, shrimp steaks, and champagne. The plane was decorated with the inscription "Milan!".
Leerdam, who is often called the "world's hottest speed skater" on social media, shared footage from the plane on her blog. Users considered such a flight "excessively luxurious" and the plane "lavish." Commentators separately noted that in all photos, the athlete was wearing the Dutch national team uniform, even though she wasn't traveling with the team.
Sharp comments appeared online:
"A private jet is overkill. What does this have to do with the national team?"
"Flying in team uniform on a private plane and dining with friends is a questionable decision."
"Such an arrival at the Games looks disgraceful."
"Isn't it too arrogant to put yourself above the entire team?"
Some users also accused Leerdam of harming the environment, pointing to pollution caused by traveling on a private jet.
Dutch journalist and former footballer Johan Derksen also voiced criticism. He stated that the athlete lives like a millionaire and behaves like a diva. "If I were her coach, I wouldn't allow this," he said.
Journalists later discovered that Jutta indeed possesses a substantial fortune earned through advertising contracts and real estate investments. Additionally, she has over five million followers on Instagram*.
At the same time, many viewers called Leerdam the most beautiful athlete at the Olympics. In 2022, she participated in an advertising campaign for a French fashion brand, and earlier FHM magazine named her "the woman with the most beautiful buttocks in the Netherlands."
Jutta Leerdam was born on December 30, 1998, in a small town in the Netherlands. Her father named her after German athlete Jutta Müller. She began speed skating at age 11.
Today, Leerdam is the 2026 Winter Olympic Games champion, 2022 Olympic silver medalist, six-time world champion, and three-time world championship medalist.
Dutch media note: "Jutta is a five-time European champion and silver medalist, 13-time junior world champion, 11-time Dutch champion and 11-time Dutch championship medalist, as well as the current national record holder at the 1000-meter distance."
Since 2018, the athlete was in a relationship with Olympic champion Koen Verweij. In 2023, she began dating boxer and blogger Jake Paul, and in 2025, he proposed to her.
Leerdam's height is 181 centimeters. According to the athlete, this both helps and hinders: long strides give an advantage in speed, but sometimes she "tripped over her own legs."
