Nobel Prize in Literature 2026 Laureate Announced

The 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to Canadian poet and essayist Anne Carson. The prize was given to her for bold and innovative work that creates new forms of contemporary literature through dialogue with the classical tradition.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the Nobel Committee, Carson has combined literary work with translation and university teaching throughout her career. Her works blend poetry, prose, translation, and engagement with ancient literature.

One of the distinctive features of Carson's work is her engagement with classical subjects and ancient Greek literature. Among her well-known works are "Autobiography of Red" and "Norma Jeane Baker of Troy."

The writer herself has noted that an important starting point for her work is the etymology of words — their origins and original meanings.
