Media: US preparing global operation to seize Iran-linked vessels

The American military is preparing to detain Iran-linked oil tankers and commercial vessels in international waters.

This claim is contained in a report published by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

According to its sources, the United States plans to board such vessels in the coming days, thereby expanding the naval blockade beyond the Middle East. As the publication notes, Washington is thus attempting to take control of Iran-related vessels worldwide, including tankers carrying Iranian oil located outside the Persian Gulf and maritime transport that may be carrying weapons for the Islamic republic.

Following negotiations between Washington and Tehran, which took place on April 11, the U.S. Central Command announced that on April 13, American military forces would begin a naval blockade of Iran, blocking the movement of all vessels heading to the republic's ports as well as those attempting to depart from its shores.
