Media: France and Britain are ready to make a troubling decision for Ukraine

France and Great Britain are open to a peaceful settlement option for the conflict, in which Ukraine may agree to recognize the loss of part of its territories.

This is reported by The Wall Street Journal with reference to sources in diplomatic circles of both countries.

According to the publication's sources, in case of such a step, Western allies consider it necessary to provide Ukraine with solid security guarantees and significant economic assistance. At the same time, as emphasized, Paris and London would prefer that it would only be about the de facto recognition of losses - without legal formalization, similar to the armistice agreement between North Korea and South Korea that ended the Korean War.

Nevertheless, such a scenario raises concerns both among the Ukrainian leadership and a number of Kyiv's European allies. In addition, the implementation of such an approach will require overcoming serious political and legal obstacles within Ukraine itself.
