Invasion, blockade, and massive bombings: The Pentagon is preparing a "decisive strike" against Iran
The Pentagon is preparing four possible scenarios for escalating the conflict with Iran, which may include the seizure of Kharg, Larak, or Abu Musa islands. This was reported by the American portal Axios, citing U.S. officials and its own sources.
According to their information, the "decisive strike" options being presented to U.S. President Donald Trump include an invasion or blockade of Kharg Island, an invasion of Larak Island, which plays an important role for Iran in maintaining control over the Strait of Hormuz, the seizure of Abu Musa Island and two other small islands at the western entrance to the strait, as well as blocking or seizing vessels exporting Iranian oil in the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz.
As Axios writes, the U.S. military has also prepared a plan for conducting a ground operation deep inside Iran with the aim of taking control of highly enriched uranium located at nuclear facilities. An alternative could be large-scale airstrikes aimed at denying Iran access to this uranium.
Axios notes that U.S. President Donald Trump has not yet made a decision to implement any of the aforementioned options, but a serious military escalation will become more likely if no progress is made in negotiations and the Strait of Hormuz is not opened.
