Information about a revolutionary battery in the ultra-thin iPhone

The upcoming iPhone 17 Air with a record-thin body will feature innovative battery technology that will increase battery capacity without changing dimensions. This was reported by DigiTimes portal.
The iPhone 17 Air is expected to become Apple's first smartphone with a silicon anode battery, which will be developed by Japanese company TDK. This solution will increase battery capacity by 15% without changing dimensions, which is especially important for the ultra-thin device body measuring just 5.5 mm thick.
Despite its compact size, high energy density, resource-efficient chip, and optimized iOS power consumption will provide battery life comparable to current iPhone models. Additionally, the smartphone will be equipped with an energy-efficient C1 modem, which has proven itself in the iPhone 16e, and the removal of the ultra-wide camera will provide additional space for the battery unit.
It is noted that Japanese TDK has already prepared shipments of new batteries and plans to introduce pure silicon technology in the future, capable of increasing battery capacity tenfold.
The presentation of the iPhone 17 series smartphones is expected in September 2025.
