In Ukraine, the former speaker of the Verkhovna Rada was shot

In Lviv on Saturday, August 30, as a result of a shooting, the famous Ukrainian politician, former Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy was killed.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Ukrainian media, the information about the incident was confirmed by the National Police of Ukraine. The report about the shooting came in around noon. Doctors who arrived at the scene pronounced the death of a man born in 1971 before medical assistance could be provided.
The head of the Lviv Regional Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, reported that all specialized services in the region have been engaged to search for the shooter. Law enforcement agencies are conducting a large-scale operation to establish the identity of the criminal and his whereabouts.
According to preliminary data, five shots were fired at the politician. The attacker turned out to be a delivery service courier who fled after the attack.
Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the death of Andriy Parubiy. "Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klymenko and Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko reported on the first circumstances of the terrible murder in Lviv. Andriy Parubiy has died. My condolences to his family and loved ones," he wrote on Telegram.
Andriy Parubiy was a prominent figure in Ukrainian politics. From 2016 to 2019, he held the position of Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, took an active part in Euromaidan, and coordinated self-defense forces during the Revolution of Dignity. He began his political activities in the 1990s, becoming one of the founders of the Social-National Party of Ukraine, later transformed into the All-Ukrainian Union "Svoboda".
