Diver found remains of spouses at the bottom of a river and solved the mystery of their disappearance 67 years ago

A diver discovered the remains of a married couple who went missing 67 years ago at the bottom of the Columbia River in the USA. This was reported by Oregon Live.

In March of this year, Archer Mayo stumbled upon a sunken car. In August, he reached it after clearing piles of debris in his path. Inside the 1950s Ford vehicle, he found human bones and a camera with the owner's name - Ken Martin. It is believed that the remains belong to him and his wife Barbara.

The Americans disappeared on December 7, 1958, when they went on a trip with their three teenage children and never returned home. The bodies of the two younger daughters were found in the river a year later, but the other family members were never found. Police believed they might have accidentally driven into the water, while locals constructed sinister theories around the case. In the end, the mystery was solved thanks to the diver's efforts.

News about the family's disappearance reached him seven years ago. He studied archives and learned about a deep hole in the water body that could suck in large objects. The depression was located near a parking lot, which could have been the cause of the accident.

Police have not yet confirmed the closure of the case. The remains were sent for examination. There is a possibility that among the found bones are those belonging to the third child.
