DiCaprio made an unexpected admission about his name
American actor Leonardo DiCaprio admitted that at the beginning of his career, he was advised to change his name. This was reported by People.
According to the Oscar winner, producers thought his name was too "ethnic," although he himself didn't understand what exactly they meant at the time. At the age of 12, the actor's agent suggested he take a pseudonym to increase his chances of success in the profession.
"He said: 'Otherwise no one will hire you. Your new name is Lenny Williams,'" DiCaprio recalled.
The surname Williams was chosen based on the actor's full name - Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio. However, Leonardo's father, George, categorically objected to this, stating that his son would take a pseudonym "over his dead body."
