Dallas Shooting: Sniper Opens Fire on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement

On Wednesday morning, September 24, 2025, a tragedy occurred at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas: an active shooter wounded three detained migrants, two of whom died at the scene, while the third is in critical condition. According to Dallas Police and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the suspect – a white male armed with a rifle – took position on the building's roof and opened fire on the facility grounds. The attacker was eliminated as a result of self-inflicted injury: he shot himself in the head when agents approached him. The incident occurred around 7:00 AM local time at the building located at 8101 North Stemmons Freeway, where ICE detainees are held.

According to police and DHS sources, the shooter acted alone, and motives have not yet been established – the FBI is investigating, considering scenarios ranging from a terrorist act to personal motives. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed in a statement on X platform: "Details are still being clarified, but we are recording multiple injuries and casualties. The shooter is dead from self-inflicted injury. Our ICE employees face unprecedented violence – this must stop." No ICE employees were injured, but the incident prompted building evacuation and closure of I-35, causing traffic jams in northern Dallas. Senator Ted Cruz stated that he is monitoring the situation and demanding enhanced security measures for ICE facilities.

This is not the first case of violence against ICE facilities: in August 2025, a bomb threat was reported in Dallas, and at the end of the month – the arrest of a person with a "detonator." According to CNN, the incident occurred against the backdrop of growing tensions around the Trump administration's immigration policies, where ICE has intensified deportations. The FBI classified the shooting as a "possible act of domestic terrorism," but motives are still under investigation.

Dallas Police held a press conference at 9:00 AM, confirming the death of two detainees and the hospitalization of a third. The victims are migrants in custody, and their identities are not being disclosed. The incident triggered a wave of condemnation: the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) demanded an investigation into detention conditions at ICE.
