Court in Yekaterinburg upholds arrest of the son of Azerbaijani diaspora head

The court upheld the preventive measure for the son of the head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Yekaterinburg, Mutvala Shikhlinskiy, who was arrested for two months in a case of alleged violence against a government official.
This is reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Russian media.
"Shikhlinskiy and his lawyer appealed the decision of the court of first instance. After reviewing the case materials and hearing the opinions of the parties, the Sverdlovsk Regional Court left the decision of the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg unchanged. M.Shikhlinskiy will remain in custody until September 14, 2025," the statement from the united press service of the regional courts says.
Note that the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg chose detention as a preventive measure for him on July 16, 2025. He is accused by the preliminary investigation authorities of allegedly committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Recall that the reason for M.Shikhlinskiy's arrest was a situation that occurred on July 1 near "Baku Plaza." At that time, FSB officers attacked the head of the Azerbaijani diaspora of Yekaterinburg, Shakhin Shikhlinskiy, in a car driven by his son. Mutvala Shikhlinskiy himself stated in court that he did not see the law enforcement officer who was to his right and regrets what happened.
