Baghai: Iran has not approached the United States with a proposal for negotiations
Iran has not approached the United States with a proposal for negotiations.
As reported by ISNA, this was stated by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei.
"Tehran has not requested negotiations with the US; however, as part of its responsible policy, it accepted a proposal from a regional mediator to visit Iran to discuss the latest developments," he said, adding that the meeting with Qatari officials took place in Mashhad.
According to Baghaei, Tehran conveyed its position to Qatar, which serves as a mediator.
"Violating commitments is a habit of the US. Washington has constantly violated various provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding, even though it was signed only 21–22 days ago.
Furthermore, the notification of the revocation of the license for the sale of Iranian oil is regarded as a gross violation of yet another provision of the memorandum, and reports of the imposition of new sanctions contradict the ninth point of the document," he stated.
In Baghaei's view, the American side has violated the memorandum of understanding under various pretexts, and this hinders negotiations.
It should be recalled that on July 7, the US revoked the license for the production, supply, and sale of oil, petroleum products, and petrochemicals from Iran.
