Bagaei named the reason for Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz

Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz to ensure the country's security.

As reported by Tasnim, this was stated by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei.

He noted that the waterway remains under Iran's control.

"Under the current circumstances, we have the right to take measures to protect the country's security. The Strait of Hormuz is currently under Iran's control, and we plan to provide additional information on the progress and results of consultations with Oman regarding management issues," Baghaei said.

He also pointed out that after the deal reached in Islamabad, the situation in the strait had become somewhat safer, and Tehran had been fulfilling its obligations under the memorandum; however, according to him, Washington violated the agreements after 23 days.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson linked the instability in the Strait of Hormuz to American attacks: "If the international community is concerned about rising fuel prices, it should blame the United States for this," he added.
