Tehran is ready to engage in dialogue with Washington, however, if necessary, Iran will defend itself and give a powerful response.

This was reported by the permanent mission of the Islamic Republic to the UN in connection with the statement of US President Donald Trump about the approach of a "huge armada" of the United States to Iran and threats of a military operation on the social network X.

"The last time the US irresponsibly got involved in wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, they spent more than $7 trillion and lost over 7,000 American lives," the mission's statement says. "Iran is ready to engage in dialogue based on mutual trust and interests, but if forced, it will defend itself and give an unprecedented response."
