At the meeting with Trump, Putin demanded to make Russian language official in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin during a conversation with his American counterpart Donald Trump in Alaska demanded guarantees that the Russian language would become official in Ukraine.

This is reported by The New York Times, citing European officials.

Putin also demanded security guarantees for Orthodox churches.

Note that the Russian language does not have the status of a state language in Ukraine.

Recall that the presidents of Russia and the United States met in Alaska on August 15.
