A criminal case has been opened against the Catholicos of All Armenians
The Prosecutor's Office of Armenia has opened a criminal case against Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II on charges of obstructing the execution of a judicial act, reports lawyer Ara Zohrabyan.
"An unprecedented event occurred today. The Prosecutor's Office of Armenia has opened a criminal case against the Catholicos of All Armenians on charges of obstructing the execution of a judicial act related to [former clergyman] Arman Saroyan," Zohrabyan wrote on his official Facebook page.
He added that the Catholicos has been banned from leaving Armenia, which "is an attempt to disrupt the upcoming bishops' conference in Austria."
