A couple who left their daughter to die of starvation has been sentenced to prison

In the United Kingdom, parents were convicted for the death of their daughter left without help and care.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the Daily Mail, a court in the United Kingdom sentenced married couple Bernice and Alan Davies, found guilty of the death of their 32-year-old daughter Steffi Davies. They were sentenced to eight years of imprisonment.

The tragedy came to light after emergency services were called: the woman's body was discovered in the family home. According to case materials, she was in an extremely critical condition — with severe emaciation and multiple infected bedsores. Medics also recorded signs of sepsis, which combined with critically low body weight became the cause of death.

The investigation established that Steffi may have been bedridden for a prolonged period, possibly up to a year. Despite the obvious deterioration of her condition, her parents did not seek medical help and effectively took no action to provide assistance.

Judge Mary Stacey noted that in the final months of her life, the woman suffered greatly, while the parents' behavior indicated complete disregard for her condition.

Paramedics who arrived at the scene described conditions in the house as extremely neglected: there was a sharp unpleasant odor in the room, and the surroundings indicated a prolonged absence of care. In their assessment, death had occurred several days before emergency services were contacted.

Additional evidence came from the deceased's phone data. In messages, she repeatedly asked for help, but as it turned out, these pleas went unanswered. Experts also confirmed that the bedsores had gone untreated for several weeks.

The couple pleaded guilty to causing death through negligence. Initially, they faced more serious charges, but during the proceedings the classification of the case was changed.

The court emphasized that prior to the deterioration of her condition, the woman had no serious illnesses, and the tragedy was a direct consequence of the parents' inaction.
