Terrorist Attack in India: Tourists Shot, Dozens Dead

One of the bloodiest attacks in recent years has occurred in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. According to reports, armed individuals in uniform opened fire on a group of tourists in the Pahalgam area - a popular destination among travelers. As a result of the attack, at least 27 people were killed, and about 20 were injured. Among the dead are at least two foreigners, whose identities are being clarified.

📍 What Happened

According to sources in security forces, the tourists were heading toward the picturesque Baisaran Valley when random shooting began at them from a forested area. The attack is classified as a terrorist act, and its scale has already been recognized as one of the most serious in recent years.

"This is not just an attack. It's a massacre. People didn't even have time to understand what was happening," says local resident Rahul Das, who witnessed the tragedy.

"We heard shots and immediately fell to the ground. Some were screaming, some were trying to run, but the shooting was targeted. I saw a woman with a child collapse next to me..." recalls a tourist from Mumbai, whose name is not disclosed.

The head of the region, Omar Abdullah, commented on the incident, calling the attack a "barbaric assault on peaceful people" and stated that "we haven't seen this scale in recent years."

Despite statements from the media and military sources, official confirmation of the exact number of victims and injured from the central authorities has not yet been received. Special services have begun search and operational activities in the area of the incident.
