Who should not drink water with ice? - WARNING
Iced drinks can cause exacerbation of chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. This was reported by dietitian and nutritionist Evgeny Arzamastsev in a conversation with the TV channel "Moscow 24".
According to the specialist, consumption of cold drinks reduces blood circulation in the digestive organs. This, in turn, impairs the activity of digestive enzymes responsible for breaking down food.
Although for a healthy person such an effect generally does not pose a danger, doctors advise people with gastrointestinal diseases to abstain from iced drinks. In particular, this applies to gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, inflammation and stone formation in the gallbladder - in these cases, cold liquid can contribute to the exacerbation of symptoms.
In addition, Arzamastsev noted that icy drinks delay the passage of food through the stomach. In gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), this can increase the reflux of stomach contents into the esophagus and aggravate the course of the disease.
