Named the most harmful sweet for teeth
Lollipops are recognized as the most dangerous sweets for teeth. According to specialists, they not only destroy enamel and provoke cavities but can also negatively affect children's bite.
As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Izvestia, this was explained by orthodontist Victoria Radko.
According to her, lollipops are a concentrate of sugar that stays in the mouth for a long time, "bathing" the teeth in a sweet environment. Unlike chocolate or marshmallows, which are eaten quickly, a lollipop contacts the enamel for 10-15 minutes. During this time, the acidity in the mouth decreases, bacteria actively multiply and begin to destroy dental tissues.
Besides the composition, habits when consuming such sweets also present a danger. If a child often holds candy in their mouth or bites the stick, this creates an improper load on the jaw.
"With regular repetition of such actions, teeth can shift, and over time an open bite forms," noted the specialist.
