Changing eating habits is the main rule that will help you lose weight by New Year's.

Fitness expert Eduard Kanevsky told this to "Moscow 24".

He advised giving up any consumption of table sugar and sweet drinks, limiting fruit consumption, excluding all types of energy drinks, alcohol and some types of sports nutrition drinks, such as isotonic drinks, as they also contain added carbohydrates.

Sweets, baked goods, semi-prepared foods, fast food, mayonnaise, chips, crackers and snacks should also be removed from the diet.

Instead, one should eat more fiber (vegetables, especially green ones), meat products (preferably lean varieties), fermented milk products, complex carbohydrates, and drink sufficient amounts of clean drinking water.

"Regarding workouts, here you should give preference to cardio, ideally up to five times a week for 45-60 minutes. But most importantly, if you've decided to lose weight for the New Year holidays, you need to develop not only proper eating habits but also exercise regularly. Your task is not to regain the lost weight during the holidays themselves, as such a setback would be harmful not only to your physical but also psychological state," concluded Kanevsky.
