Doctor warned about the danger of perfect blood pressure

Well-known Russian cardiologist Irina Vasilyeva made a concerning statement that could change many people's understanding of normal blood pressure. Readings of 120/80, which have been considered the standard of health for decades, may actually pose a danger to certain categories of patients. In her Telegram channel, the specialist explained in detail about risk groups and the necessity of drug therapy for such seemingly normal indicators.
According to recent scientific studies cited by Vasilyeva, the risk of fatal outcomes from cardiovascular diseases doubles with an increase in blood pressure of just 20/10 millimeters of mercury, starting from the mark of 115/75. It is these data that led to a revision of standards in European medicine, where readings below 120/70 are now considered normal.
The doctor recommends special vigilance for patients whose pressure is in the range from 120/70 to 139/89. For this category of people, it is critically important to conduct a comprehensive assessment of cardiovascular risks. The cardiologist particularly emphasized that in the presence of serious diseases such as ischemic heart disease, severe kidney pathologies, or diabetes, medication therapy may be required even with "normal" blood pressure.
