The future of Azerbaijani football: which teams can surprise in the new season?

A new episode of the podcast İdmanda nə baş verir? ("What's happening in sports?") was released on Baku TV.

The guest of the program was the well-known sports journalist Mehman Suleymanov.

The episode discussed the 2025/2026 season of the Azerbaijan Football Premier League, as well as the surprise teams of the championship. According to M. Suleymanov, "Araz-Nakhchivan" will continue to compete in the tournament until the very end.

"I expect a surprise from 'Araz-Nakhchivan'. The team is ambitious, recently defeated 'Trabzonspor' with a score of 3:2. Currently, the club is in good form and has conducted a successful transfer campaign," he noted.

Among other teams capable of surprising in the new season, the expert named "Gabala," which, according to him, can create serious difficulties for its opponents. He also highlighted "Sumgayit," "Karvan," and "Turan Tovuz," adding that there are especially high expectations for the latter club in the new season.
