The Azerbaijan men's national football team faced serious challenges in 2025.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to Report, this was stated by the President of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) Rovshan Najaf at the organization's reporting conference.

He noted that under the leadership of Aykhan Abbasov, positive changes have occurred in the team's play: "The team has become more disciplined. This is especially evident from the results of the FIFA Series-2026 tournament. I congratulate the national team. I believe in our team. Qarabag's success on the European stage deserves special attention. I would like to thank the club's management for the emotions they gave our fans."

The AFFA President also touched upon the U-20 World Cup, which will be organized in 2027 in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan:

"This competition will be held on two continents and can be seen as a bridge between Europe and Asia. I believe that joint efforts will allow us to achieve the set goals, and our efforts will bring positive results," he noted.
