Azerbaijani wrestler became European champion
Another Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler, Hasrat Jafarov, won a gold medal at the European Championship in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.
As reported by BAKU.WS, the athlete, competing in the 67 kg weight category, defeated Bulgarian Abu Muslim Amaev in the final with a score of 7:1.
Thus, H. Jafarov became a three-time European champion.
Note that earlier freestyle wrestlers won 1 gold, 1 silver, and 4 bronze medals. Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) became European champion, Osman Nurmagomedov (92 kg) took silver, while Islam Bazarganov (57 kg), Ali Rahimzade (65 kg), Kyanan Heybatov (70 kg), and Aganazar Novruzov (74 kg) were awarded bronze medals.
Among Greco-Roman wrestlers, Nihat Mammadli (60 kg) took gold, Eldaniz Azizli (57 kg) - silver, and Islam Abbasov (87 kg) - bronze in the tournament, thus the Azerbaijan freestyle wrestling team became European champion in the team standings. Zhala Aliyeva (57 kg) added another bronze to the team's collection.
