Why are trees in Baku transplanted with an excavator rather than specialized equipment?

Statements about tree destruction under the guise of replanting appeared in Baku.

According to the complainant, during the construction of a new road near the "Bakmil" metro station, trees are being uprooted using an excavator and destroyed.

The cutting down of trees in this manner has caused concern among residents and cast doubt on statements about their replanting elsewhere. We sent an inquiry to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR) regarding this issue. The head of the 11th Regional Department of Ecology and Natural Resources, Gafar Agayev, commented on the complaint about the extraction of trees using an excavator, rather than specialized equipment, during the construction of a new road on the section from Academician Hasan Aliyev Street to Muzaffar Narimanov Street along the "Keroglu" metro station road.

He noted that due to high-voltage electrical and communication lines running through part of the specified territory, the executive body stated that it was impossible to transplant several trees using specialized equipment. For this reason, in accordance with safety regulations, some trees were extracted by tractor not from the root, but from the surface part, and replanted in the Ramana green zone of the Decorative Plants State Farm of the Landscaping Association.
