Today is March 8 - International Women's Day

International Women's Day is celebrated worldwide today.
On August 27, 1910, at the Second International Socialist Women's Conference held in Copenhagen, Denmark, as part of the VIII Congress of the Second International, German political activist Clara Zetkin proposed establishing International Women's Day.
Historically, the holiday emerged as a day of solidarity for working women in their struggle for equal rights and emancipation. And nowadays, in many countries around the world, March 8 is celebrated specifically as Working Women's Day.
Since 1911, International Women's Day began to be celebrated in Germany, Austria, Denmark, and Switzerland, and since 1913 - in Russia. In Azerbaijan, this day has been regularly celebrated since 1917.
In 1998, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs was established in Azerbaijan. Our country is represented in the Bureau for Women's Affairs of the Council of Europe and is also a full member of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
Since 1995, Azerbaijan has joined the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
International Women's Day - March 8 is declared a non-working day in our country.
