The State Security Service delivered Azer Bagirov, accused of high treason, from Jordan to Azerbaijan

A court hearing was held at the Sabail District Court of Baku to choose a preventive measure against Azerbaijani citizen Azer Bagirov Akif oglu.

As Report.az/ru/proisshestviya/sgb-dostavila-iz-iordanii-v-azerbajdzhan-azera-bagirova-obvinyaemogo-v-gosizmene/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Report informs, Azer Bagirov, accused of high treason (espionage by providing assistance to representatives of a foreign intelligence service), was detained in Jordan as a result of measures carried out by the State Security Service of Azerbaijan and brought to our country.

According to case materials, a foreign state's intelligence service recruited Bagirov, as an Azerbaijani citizen, to conceal their involvement in preparing acts of sabotage in third countries. Azer Bagirov thus engaged in espionage activities in favor of the foreign intelligence service and thereby deliberately damaged Azerbaijan's interests abroad.

The court chose detention as a preventive measure against Bagirov Azer Akif oglu, and he was charged under Article 274 (high treason) of the Criminal Code.
