The road has sunk on one of the streets in Baku

Road surface subsidence has been recorded on Gurban Khalilov Street in the Yasamal district of Baku. The depth of the resulting sinkhole is about 1-1.5 m.

According to preliminary information, the cause of the incident was the erosion of the road foundation by water seeping from a pipeline running under the roadway.

The resulting hole impedes vehicle traffic and poses a danger to drivers. It is particularly concerning that there are no warning signs at the site - the sinkhole only becomes noticeable when directly approaching the damaged section.

The State Road Agency of Azerbaijan reported that safety measures have already been taken in the area of the incident.

"Our employees are on site. Restoration work is underway and is planned to be completed in the near future," according to the official information from the agency.
