Armenia used mercenaries during the Patriotic War.

This was stated by prosecutor Tarana Mamedova at the court hearing in the case of persons of Armenian origin accused of war crimes against Azerbaijan.

According to her, in preparation for the aggressive war, Vartanov Vladimir (Vova) Levanovich conducted military training in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, providing weapons and ammunition to members of his terrorist organization VoMa, as well as citizens of Armenian origin from France, Lebanon, Syrian Arab Republic, Russia and other countries, and members of various terrorist organizations.

Furthermore, through the territory of Armenia and using the occupied Lachin corridor, more than 2,000 foreign citizens, including members of the terrorist organization "ASALA", terrorist organizations PKK-PYD-YPG, French group Zouaves Paris (ZVP), "Dashnaktsutyun" party, military group "Black Panther" and other organizations, were transferred as more experienced fighters and ensured participation in the aggressive war against Azerbaijan in the cities of Khankendi and Shusha, Kalbajar, Khojavend and other settlements of Azerbaijan.
