Pedestrian zones to be increased in Baku

New pedestrian zones planned in Baku for 2025.
According to the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the main goal of these changes is to make the city more convenient and comfortable for residents.
"Several projects have already been implemented to increase pedestrian priority in the urban environment. The first step was restricting vehicle traffic and creating a pedestrian zone around the Khagani Garden. Later, the pedestrian zone expanded from Nizami Street to the National Seaside Park.
The improvement of the square in front of the 28 May metro station has made this busy area not only an important transport hub but also a spacious pedestrian zone. This year, work on developing pedestrian infrastructure and bringing it in line with modern safety and accessibility standards will continue," AYNA noted.
