Enrollment for first grade has started in Azerbaijan: what parents need to know

Parents, after creating a personal account, will be able to register their children for the first grade from May 1 to September 12.

As Oxu.Az reports, this was announced by Farida Bilishzade, the chief consultant of the Department of General Education Organization at the Agency for Preschool and General Education.

According to her, the open stage of choosing a school and teacher will begin on May 6 and will last until September 12.

F. Bilishzade noted that due to high demand in some schools located in Baku, Sumgayit, and the Absheron district, priority is applied in the first-grade admission process:

"The selection of a priority school for the Azerbaijani sector will take place from May 6 to June 5. For admission to classes taught in other languages, parents must register their children for an interview to check oral speech skills from May 6 to May 20. The interview stage will last from May 12 to May 31. Parents dissatisfied with the interview results will be able to appeal from May 31 to June 2. Those who successfully pass the interview will be able to choose a school and teacher until June 17.

The selection of a priority school for the Russian sector will take place from June 17 to July 17.

Registration for interviews for the Azerbaijani sector of the Baku European Lyceum, Bulbul Music School, and the Arts Gymnasium can be done from May 6 to June 5. The competition will be held from June 15 to 18. For the Russian sector, registration for interviews will last from June 17 to 25. After the interviews are completed, participation in the competition is possible from June 30 to July 7.

Candidates who successfully pass the competition in both sectors will be able to choose a teacher on July 14."
