A meeting was held between representatives of CJSC Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) and a delegation from the Republic of Moldova.

As reported to BAKU.WS by the airline's press service, the meeting was attended by AZAL President Samir Rzayev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Moldova, Co-Chairman of the Moldova-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Commission Vladimir Bolea, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to Azerbaijan Alexander Esaulenko, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Moldova Ulvi Bakhshaliyev, as well as other representatives of AZAL and the Moldovan side.

During the negotiations, prospects for expanding cooperation in the field of air transport between Azerbaijan and Moldova were discussed. The parties exchanged views on the development of air traffic, increasing the number of regular passenger flights, and further cooperation in the aviation sector.

AZAL President Samir Rzayev noted that due to the growing passenger traffic, from April 2025, the number of flights on the Baku-Chisinau-Baku route will be increased to five times a week. In May of this year, it is planned to increase their number to seven times a week.

The head of the Moldovan delegation, Vladimir Bolea, and Ambassador Alexander Esaulenko highly appreciated the cooperation with AZAL and expressed the readiness of the Moldovan side to provide comprehensive support in the development of bilateral relations.

It should be noted that regular flights on the Baku - Chisinau - Baku route have been operating since September 2023. In 2024, 189 flights (round trip) were operated on this route, carrying 49,636 passengers. In the first three months of 2025, 51 flights were operated, carrying 12,180 passengers.

Both sides expressed confidence that the increase in the number of flights will create additional convenience for passengers and contribute to the development of economic, cultural, and tourist ties between Azerbaijan and Moldova.

During the meeting, other issues of mutual interest were also discussed, as well as opportunities for further cooperation.
