2,298 persons are prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan for non-payment of alimony

Last year, 2,298 individuals who evaded alimony payments were banned from leaving the country.
As reported by BAKU.WS, this was announced by the Ministry of Justice in response to an APA inquiry.
According to the information, in 2024, payments were made regularly or with certain delays in 113,806 alimony cases, while in 4,974 cases, payments were not made at all.
The ministry noted that in cases of deliberate evasion of alimony payments, debtors are subject to administrative and criminal liability.
In the first quarter of 2025, the number of people who paid alimony was 115,265, and the number of those who did not pay was 5,731.
Administrative and criminal legal measures were taken against individuals who deliberately evaded alimony payments in the first quarter of 2025.
