Officers who arrived at the specified address found the 81-year-old Handy in the yard of a house with multiple stab wounds. The actor was unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save the victim's life.
According to the investigation, 44-year-old Michael Gledhill was detained at the scene. The man approached the police officers himself and told them that he was the one they were looking for. According to American media outlets, the suspect is the son of a woman who had previously been in a relationship with the actor.
James Handy was well known to audiences for his roles in the films K-9, Jumanji, and Top Gun: Maverick. The circumstances of the crime and the possible motives of the attacker are currently being investigated.
