Today is the City Day of Lachin

Today, August 26, marks the City Day of Lachin.

BAKU.WS reminds that according to the decree of President Ilham Aliyev, signed on July 31, 2023, city days were established in the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation.

The document notes that the ancestral historical lands of Azerbaijan, which had been under occupation for about 30 years as a result of Armenia's military aggression, were liberated through military and political means during the 44-day Patriotic War, and each day that brought the glorious Victory closer is inscribed in golden letters in the history of Azerbaijan.

At the cost of the lives and blood of soldiers and officers of the valiant Azerbaijani army during the Patriotic War, a total of more than 300 settlements were liberated, including the cities of Jabrayil, Fuzuli, Zangilan, Gubadly, the settlements of Minjivan, Agbend, Bartaz of Zangilan district, the settlement of Hadrut and a number of villages of Khojavend district, the village of Sugovushan of Terter district, several villages of Khojaly and Lachin districts, as well as important strategic heights in the directions of Agdere, Murovdag and Zangilan. The war ended with the liberation of the pearl of Karabakh - the city of Shusha and Armenia's forced signing of the act of capitulation.
