Today would have been the 37th birthday of Azerbaijan's National Hero Mubariz Ibrahimov.

As Baku.ws reminds, he was born on February 7, 1988, in the village of Aliabad in the Bilasuvar region. In 2005, he graduated with honors from the Shahid Malik Piriyev Secondary School in his native village.

In March 2006, he was drafted into military service by the Bilasuvar District Military Commissariat. He served his mandatory service in the Internal Troops, starting as a rifleman and later becoming a subgroup commander. On November 20, 2007, he was discharged to the reserve.

On September 18, 2009, he voluntarily re-enlisted for active military service and completed the warrant officer courses at the Training and Education Center of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan. He served honorably and courageously on the frontline as a deputy company commander of a motorized rifle battalion.

On the night of June 19, 2010, near the village of Chayli in the Tartar region, Mubariz Ibrahimov eliminated a large number of enemy servicemen and wounded several others in an unequal battle, heroically dying in the process.

For exceptional service and bravery shown in defending the independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree posthumously awarding Mubariz Agakerim oglu Ibrahimov the title of "National Hero of Azerbaijan."

In Bilasuvar city, a lyceum and a street are named after him. In 2008, a 12.7mm second-generation rifle from the "Istiglal" sniper rifle family, manufactured by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense Industry, was named in his honor.

In 2014, a memorial plaque in honor of Mubariz Ibrahimov was installed in Minto Park in Ottawa, Canada. In 2016, a street in Sumgayit was named after him. In the same year, a monument to Mubariz Ibrahimov was erected at the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry.
