The Turkic Heritage of the Safavids: Truth Against Fiction

The unification of the northern and southern regions of Azerbaijan within the framework of a single centralized Safavid state laid a solid foundation for closer political, economic, cultural, and ethnic rapprochement of these territories.
This is stated in a new issue of the Caliber.Az YouTube channel.
"In the 16th century, after decades of feudal fragmentation, Azerbaijan regained its state integrity and achieved notable progress in economy and culture in the form of the Safavid power. This state was created by the Azerbaijani feudal elite, primarily the nobility, emirs, and military elite. It was the Kizilbash, ancestors of modern Azerbaijanis, who became the dominant force of the new state, whose main task was to strengthen and expand the power of the Kizilbash nobility - both over their own people and over the subsequently conquered regions of the Caucasus, as well as parts of the territories of Central Asia and the Middle East. Valuable written sources that have survived to this day testify to the Turkic, in particular, Azerbaijani origin of the Safavids," the video material states.
