The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan met with the Deputy Secretary of State of the USA

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov received the US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Alison Hooker.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), during the meeting, the parties held a wide exchange of views on the current state and prospects for the development of Azerbaijani-American cooperation, the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as regional and global security issues.

The agreements reached during the historic meeting in Washington on August 8 were noted with satisfaction, and the importance of joint efforts towards developing a strategic partnership between the two countries was emphasized.

The importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of regional stability, energy security, and expansion of transport corridors was emphasized. In this context, the Azerbaijani side expressed interest in accelerating work on the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" project, which will be implemented by the United States to ensure unhindered communication between the main part of Azerbaijan and its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The parties reviewed the areas of activity of the bilateral Strategic Working Group for the preparation of the Charter on Strategic Partnership, which will contribute to strengthening strategic cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The importance of creating an institutional framework for bilateral practical cooperation was emphasized.

During the meeting, issues on the agenda of peace and stability in the South Caucasus region were discussed, as well as directions of activity for the upcoming period within bilateral and multilateral platforms.

J. Bayramov informed the American side about the steps taken within the framework of the normalization process and about the restoration and construction work in the post-conflict period.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on the situation in the Middle East and other regional issues of mutual interest.
