Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Baku, Mujtaba Demirchili.

As reported by BAKU.WS with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, during the meeting, the ambassador presented copies of his credentials to the minister.

J. Bayramov congratulated the diplomat on his appointment and wished him success in his activities.

During the conversation, current issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, regional security, including the situation around the conflict between Israel and Iran were discussed. The importance of maintaining political dialogue and contacts between the leaders of the two countries, which contributes to the deepening of bilateral relations, was emphasized.

The Azerbaijani side once again expressed concern about the escalation between Israel and Iran, and extended condolences over the death of the Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, other officials and citizens of the country. J. Bayramov pointed out the need to resolve existing problems based on the norms and principles of international law, through dialogue and diplomacy.

The Iranian side expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for providing the opportunity for Iranian citizens and citizens of other countries to cross the land border.

At the end of the meeting, an exchange of views took place on other issues of mutual interest.
