President of Azerbaijan: For us, the Italian market is of paramount importance both in terms of oil and gas

The Italian market is of paramount importance to us in terms of both oil and gas. Last year, Azerbaijan exported 25 billion cubic meters of natural gas, of which 9.5 billion went to the Italian market.

As reported by AZERTAC, this was stated by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in a press statement with Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Italy Giorgia Meloni.

Noting that negotiations are currently underway to increase these volumes, the head of state said: "To this end, it is naturally necessary to expand the TAP project, which is an integral part of the Southern Gas Corridor. It has already been expanded to a certain extent, but this process is ongoing."
